
Emma Barker describes herself as an eco-feminist and works as a secondary school teacher of Spanish, French and Italian. During her last position at Imberhorne School, East Grinstead, she set up an eco-club for the children so they could plant vegetables (used by the catering staff), tend to chickens, be citizen scientists for the big butterfly count and plant trees donated by the Woodland Trust. The school achieved distinction as a Green School. Since 2023, she had run the youth group for Climate commitment, meeting termly with local MP Mims Davies, so teenagers can raise local and global issues. She also contributed to her local church achieving a bronze Eco church award.
